Cops and Community Bingo is April 15

The Hopkins Police Department is hosting their annual spring Cops and Community Bingo on Saturday, April 15, at 2 p.m., at the Hopkins Activity Center, 33 14th Avenue N. For $20, play 10 games and help support the Hopkins Crime Prevention Fund and Youth Outreach. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Cash only. Participants must be 18+.


Free Brush Pick-Up Begins April 17

Brush will be picked-up for free on your regular garbage day from April 17–27. You do not need to call to schedule this pickup. Only brush  generated on City of Hopkins’ residential garbage customer properties will be picked up. After April 27, brush will be collected on Tuesdays, weather permitting. To schedule a brush pick-up after April 27, call 952-939-1382 before 2 p.m. on Monday. Fees apply. Find more information about brush pick-up.


Board and Commission Application Deadline is April 24

Interested in serving your community? The City of Hopkins is seeking applicants to serve on our boards and commissions. Boards and commissions perform a vital role in the life of our community. Many of the City’s decisions, policies, and procedures are founded on recommendations from a board or commission. The City currently has openings on the Planning and Zoning Commission, Park Board and Charter Commission. Learn more about City boards and commissions, and apply online. The deadline to apply is April 24.


Bulk Item Drop-Off Event is April 28-29

The City is holding its annual spring bulk item drop-off event on Friday, April 28, from 3 to 7 p.m., and Saturday, April 29, from 9 a.m. to noon. For a $20 fee plus taxes, you can drop off one appliance and up to three cubic yards worth of trash (the equivalent of one pick-up truckload). Shred-N-Go will also be on-site for confidential destruction of documents. Payment will be processed by card at the event. Find more information about the drop-off event. 


Applications Open for Advancing Careers and Employment (ACE) Program 

Applications are now open for the Advancing Careers and Employment (ACE) Program. ACE is a youth employment program that offers young people facing barriers to employment paid summer internship and professional development experience. Positions are available within the Fire Department, Police Department, Public Works, the Hopkins Center for the Arts, the Hopkins Activity Center, Administration, and Community Development and Inspections at $16/hour.
