BUDGET ENGAGEMENT SESSION IS AUGUST 14

The City will be hosting a budget engagement session on Monday, August 14, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Hopkins City Hall. There will be opportunities for the public to provide input at the session. Learn more about the budget process on the City website.


Hopkins Activity Center Open House is August 15

Whether you are a regular participant or new to the area, you are invited to the Hopkins Activity Center Open House on Tuesday, August 15, between 10 a.m. and noon, to discover exciting program offerings for active adults 55 and over. Bring a friend and stop in to enjoy a tasty treat, meet with Tech Help volunteers, try out pickleball, view the artwork and visit with the artist, learn about travel and volunteer opportunities, or tour the facility and plan your next party. During the Open House, take advantage of membership savings including $5 off a membership to first time members or a $5 credit to current members for new member referrals. Candidate Filing Period Ends August 15

The filing period to run for mayor or City Council member in the 2023 election closes August 15. File in-person at City Hall between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., with extended hours until 5 p.m. on August 15. The City election will take place on Tuesday, November 7. SUNSET SERIES ELSKA CONCERT IS AUGUST 17

The final Sunset Series concert of the summer is Thursday, August 17, with Indie singer Elska at 7 p.m. in Downtown Park. Sunset Series concerts are free and open to the public. SPEEDS Neighborhood Gathering in August 23

Join the Hopkins Police Department at Burnes Park on Wednesday, August 23, at 5:30 p.m. to learn about their new initiative "Speaking with Police to Educate and Enhance Driver Safety" (SPEEDS). At the neighborhood gathering, residents will be able to speak with police officers about traffic safety concerns in the community; learn how Hopkins police officers conduct enforcement and problem solve; receive free vouchers for vehicle light repairs; learn how to obtain a valid license (even with prior traffic violations) through the MN Driver Diversion program; and get the details of the new "Driver’s License for All” bill that passed this year. There will also be free snacks and shaved ice from Kona Ice, a drawing for a $50 gift card to a local Hopkins business, and fun games and activities for kids provided by Hopkins-Minnetonka Recreation Services.


Community Image Award Nomination Deadline is August 25

Do you know someone in Hopkins who has made significant improvements to their property in the past year? The City is seeking nominations for the 2023 Community Image Awards. The City of Hopkins' Community Image Awards honor property owners and business owners whose pride shines through their property. Property improvements include landscaping, accessibility improvements, lighting, signs or exterior improvements. Learn more about the program and submit a nomination. The deadline to submit a nomination is Friday, August 25.
