Holiday in Hopkins is November 25

Don't miss Holiday in Hopkins this Saturday, November 25! Holiday in Hopkins, hosted by the Hopkins Business and Civic Association since 2009, is an annual event held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving to celebrate Hopkins' small businesses and to kick-off the holiday season. Head down to Mainstreet between 2 and 5:30 p.m. for horse-drawn carriage rides, s'mores stations, ornament making, cooking decorating, and to shop local. Find more event information on Facebook. 


BRUSH AND YARD WASTE DROP-OFF SITE CLOSES NOVEMBER 27

The free yard waste/brush drop-off site (3100 Hopkins Crossroad) will be open Mondays and Wednesdays from 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Monday, November 27, weather permitting. After November 27, the site will close for the season. Learn what's accepted at the drop-off site.


BROWNBODY OFFERING FREE SKATING LESSONS AT HOPKINS PAVILION DECEMBER 3, 10

Brownbody, a St. Paul-based non profit performing arts organization that blends dance, theater, social justice, and ice skating, will be leading introductory skating lessons at the Hopkins Pavilion December 3 and 10. Brownbody has a team of skilled Black and Brown skating instructors who will be teaching the lessons. There will be three lessons each day starting at 1 p.m. New skaters are encouraged to sign up for a lesson free of charge. Helmets and Skates provided (limited availability). Registration is required. 


PUBLIC MEETING ON 2024 BUDGET IS DECEMBER 4

Interested in how your tax dollars are spent? Attend the 2024 Budget Hearing on Monday, December 4, at 6:30 p.m., at Hopkins City Hall. The 2024 Budget will be presented along with the proposed 2024 tax levy. The council set a preliminary budget and levy in September, which will appear on the notice of proposed taxes mailed to every tax payer. City Council and staff have continued to work on the 2024 budget and will present the most current version of the budget and tax levy. This is the final opportunity to provide input on the budget before it is approved. All input is welcome.


2023 Municipal Election Recount Results

Following the canvassing of the 2023 municipal election results on Tuesday, November 14, a recount for one of the Hopkins City Council seats was requested. The recount was completed on Monday, November 20, with the following results:

  • Ben Goodlund: 886 votes
  • Aaron Kuznia: 884 votes

The recount results were canvassed at the Hopkins City Council meeting on Tuesday, November 21. City Council Member Ben Goodlund will begin his term in January.
