Police Department Open House and Kick-Off to Summer Safety Event is May 18

The Hopkins Police Department is holding an open house and Kick-Off to Summer Safety event on Saturday, May 18, from 11 a .m. to 2 p.m., at the police department, 1010 First Street S. This free, family-friendly event in conjunction with Mainstreet Day will feature a Ninja Anywhere obstacle course, jail tours, food trucks and more. Live demonstrations will be held at noon and 1 p.m.


Mainstreet Day is May 18

Mainstreet Day, the annual arts and craft festival sponsored by JCI Hopkins, will be held Saturday, May 18, on Mainstreet in downtown Hopkins. The event is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature more than 140 participating arts and craft vendors offering a variety of homemade items, including jewelry, woodworking, photography and fine art, clothing, toys, garden decor and more. JCI Hopkins reinvests all proceeds from Mainstreet Day back into the Hopkins community to support programs and projects such as Bowling with the Bunny, Little Free Libraries and the Cops 'N Kids Shopping Program. Find more information about Mainstreet Day.  


Burnes Park Splash Pad Opens May 25

The splash pad at Burnes Park is scheduled to open for the season next Saturday, May 25. Find more information, including splash pad hours and rules, on the City website.


Grant and Loan Opportunities Application Opens June 3

Applications for three City funding programs will be accepted June 3-28. The Hopkins Climate Solutions Fund offers incentives for residential and commercial projects to accelerate our transition to cleaner and more efficient energy. Projects awarded in the past have been solar panel installations, electric bike purchases, and weatherization improvements. The Façade Improvement Program is open to commercial property and business owners in Downtown Hopkins, between 7th Avenue and Shady Oak Road and 1st Street N and 1st Street S to apply for funding for façade revitalization projects that strengthen Mainstreet’s vitality. The Hopkins Small Business Loans are one-time forgivable, no-interest loans are available to small businesses with brick-and-mortar facilities in the City, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act. The grants may be used for publicly visible physical improvements to the exterior of buildings and improvements to increase ADA accessibility. Learn more about the programs.
