Garbage, Organics Collection Delayed One Day 
Week of May 26

A heads up for Hopkins residential garbage customers: The collection schedule for the week of May 26 will be adjusted due to the Memorial Day holiday.

  • Monday, May 26: City offices closed, no garbage or organics collection
  • Tuesday, May 27: Pick-up for Monday routes
  • Wednesday, May 28: Pick-up for Tuesday routes
  • Thursday, May 29: Pick-up for Wednesday routes
  • Friday, May 30: Pick-up for Thursday routes

Garlic Mustard Removal Volunteer Event is May 31

Join the City of Hopkins for a volunteer event to remove garlic mustard and learn how to manage it on Saturday, May 31, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Shady Oak Pond, 151 Shady Oak Road N. Garlic mustard is an invasive species that outcompetes native plants and takes over forest floors, preventing other plant regeneration. This invasive species has become an increasingly large problem in the Midwest and management is key for the health of our city’s environment. Sign-up to volunteer.


Cops N Kids Fishing Nomination Period Extended to June 1

The Hopkins Police Department is still accepting nominations for a few remaining spots for Cops N Kids Fishing coming up on Thursday, June 12. Cops N Kids Fishing is a mentoring program for third, fourth and fifth graders who are identified by community members as needing an additional opportunity for a positive role model experience. Working in partnership with local school districts and teachers, as well as donations from residents and businesses, HPD is able to educate participants on the importance of respecting our natural resources and encourage them to enjoy the outdoor recreational opportunities, all while fostering positive relationships with the police. Energy Assistance Still Available

Community Action Partnership of Hennepin County’s (CAP-HC’s) Energy Assistance Program can help pay your utility bills between October 1, 2024 and May 31, 2025. If you’re an eligible applicant, you may receive a grant paid directly to your utility provider that reduces your expenses.
