REMINDER: The next HAMA meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 9 from 12:00 p.m. (noon) to 1:30 p.m. at the Hopkins Fire Department - 101 17th Ave S, Hopkins, MN 55343 (3rd floor training room)

Agenda topics for the meeting will include:

1. Energy Efficiency follow up on the Energy Action Plan

City of Hopkins Associate Planner Sam Gallagher will share energy efficiency strategies tailored to multifamily building owners, managers and tenants to reduce energy costs, upgrade buildings and become eligible for major equipment rebates. 

2. Smoke-Free Housing Refresher with Live Smoke Free and Hennepin County Public Health

Presenters Alex Eberhart with Live Smoke Free and Jackie Siewert with Hennepin County Public Health will review the benefits to adopting a smoke-free policy in multi-unit housing, such as cleaner indoor air, reduced fire risk, lower costs, and better marketability. Presenters will also provide a roadmap for successful implementation and enforcement of a smoke-free policy as well as tips for promoting compliance and how to address violations. The presentation will include an overview of current state and federal smoke-free housing laws. 

3. Designer Drugs and Drug Paraphernalia Awareness

Hopkins Fire Marshal Garrett Grniet will share information from the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension on recognizing new designer drugs and related paraphernalia.
