Fair Housing

Federal housing policies assure equal access to rental and home-ownership opportunities for everyone. Fair housing laws cover virtually all housing in the United States.

The City of Hopkins is committed to fair housing in our community. See the information below to learn more about fair housing and find helpful resources.

Reasonable Accommodations

In compliance with the Federal Fair Housing Act of 1988, the City of Hopkins must provide a reasonable accommodation in the application of zoning and other regulations for qualified persons with disabilities, as defined by Federal law, who are seeking fair and equal access to housing.

This can be understood as flexibility in city regulations such as zoning, land use, or other policies which may include the modification or waiver of certain rules to eliminate barriers to fair housing.
