Hopkins is the site of trailheads for five Three Rivers Park regional trails. Three Rivers Park District operates the trails for spring, summer and fall usage. 

Grades are generally 5 percent or less, which makes them ideal for biking, walking and running.

About the Trails

Cedar Lake LRT Regional Trail

The Cedar Lake LRT Regional Trail is a popular, wide, paved trail that heads east from Hopkins to Minneapolis, along the former railroad lines of the Great Northern Railway and the   Minneapolis and St. Louis Railway. To learn more, view the Cedar Lake LRT Regional Trail Page.

Lake Minnetonka LRT Regional Trail

The Lake Minnetonka LRT Regional Trail is a limestone path that runs west from Hopkins to the Carver Park Reserve in Victoria. View Lake Minnetonka LRT Regional Trail.

Minnesota River Bluffs LRT Regional Trail

The Minnesota River Bluffs LRT Regional Trail is a limestone trail that heads southwest west from Hopkins to Chanhassen on an old railroad route. View the Minnesota River Bluffs LRT Regional Trail Page.

Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail 

The Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail is a 15 mile regional trail that connects Hopkins and the Minnesota River Bluffs Regional Trail with the cities of Edina, Minnetonka and Richfield. From Richfield, you can access the Nokomis-Minnesota River Regional Trail and travel north to Lake Nokomis or south to the Minnesota River. View Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail.

North Cedar Lake Regional Trail

The North Cedar Lake Regional Trail is a paved trail that runs northwest from Hopkins to Minneapolis. For more information, view North Cedar Lake Regional Trail.


Trailheads

Currently, the park and ride lot along Excelsior Boulevard at 8th Avenue and the Depot Coffee House are used as trailheads. In 2006 the trailheads were improved and expanded.

The Rotary Oasis was developed by the Hopkins Rotary Club in 2009 and serves as a trailhead for the Lake Minnetonka LRT Regional Trail. The Oasis is located on the southeast corner of 9th Avenue and 1st St. N in Hopkins.
