The following items are accepted in organics recycling:

- Bamboo food service items
- Berry cartons (paper only)
- Bones
- Candy (removed from wrapper)
- Cellulose sponges
- Cereal
- Certified compostable food service items (must be labeled as such)
- Cheese and cheesecloth
- Chopsticks and coffee stir sticks (wood only)
- Coffee cups (must be labeled certified compostable)
- Condiment packets (paper only, including salt, pepper, sugar and sugar substitute)
- Corks (natural only, plastic corks are garbage)
- Corn cobs, husks and shuckings
- Cotton balls (without chemicals on them)
- Dough
- Dust bunnies
- Egg cartons (paper only)
- Egg shells
- Facial tissue
- Fish and fish parts
- Food
- Flour and sugar paper bags (no plastic lined bags)
- Flower bouquets (remove ribbon, plastic and metal)
- Frozen foods
- Fruit (including peels, seeds and pits)
- Fur from pet grooming (no fur clothing)
- Grains
- Gravy and sauces
- Grease (small amounts only, wiped in paper towels)
- Hair (human and pet)
- Herbs and spices (fresh or dried)
- Indoor plants and trimmings (no dirt or outdoor plants)
- Jam and jelly
- Meat and meat products
- Melon, pumpkin and gourds
- Nail clippings (no polish)
- Newspaper that is wet with food or dirt
- Nuts and nut shells
- Oatmeal
- Oysters, mussels and clams (including shells)
- Paper bags (no plastic lined bags)
- Paper take-out containers and fast food packaging (must be labeled certified compostable)
- Paper plates and cups (must be labeled certified compostable)
- Paper towels and napkins
- Pastries and pies
- Pencil shavings
- Pet food (dry or wet, removed from bag or can)
- Pizza boxes
- Popcorn kernals
- Popsicle sticks and toothpicks (wood only)
- Q-tips™ with paper stems only (no plastic)
- Sawdust (untreated wood only)
- Shredded paper (no staples, paper clips or plastic)
- Tea bags (no nylon, with staples removed - tea bag packaging must be paper only, with no plastic or foil lining)
- Tissue paper (no glitter or foil)
