Welcome Packet

Welcome to Hopkins!

This online welcome packet contains utility information on the property you recently purchased. The City of Hopkins provides water, sewer, storm sewer, refuse and recycling services to nearly all residential properties. For commercial properties, the City provides water, sewer and storm sewer services.

Forms & Informational Material

We have included helpful links to forms and informational material. Any forms can be emailed back to Utility Billing.

Garbage Hauler for Single Family, Duplex & Triplex Dwellings

The City of Hopkins is the only garbage hauler for single family, duplex and triplex dwellings. One of our city refuse trucks will collect your trash weekly. Recycling is mandatory in Hopkins and is every other week on your trash day. We contract recycling with Waste Management, so one of their vehicles will be collecting your recyclables. To find out when your trash day is please see the refuse route map.

If you wish to change the size of your refuse container(s), please complete and return the Refuse Container Request Form.

Billing

We bill monthly and the bills are always due on the 20th of the month unless that day falls on a weekend or a holiday. We have included a sample of what your bill will look like (PDF).

Recurring Payments
Also included is information on recurring payments. There are two ways to get set up.

  1. You may sign up for auto pay with a checking or savings account by completing and returning an Authorization for Auto Pay Form (PDF) along with supporting information.
  2. You may register for recurring payments with a credit or debit card on our online portal (View step-by-step instructions (PDF)). The portal has other great features that allow you to receive an e-bill and view your history and usage. We encourage you to sign up for some kind of recurring payment as it is often more efficient for our residents and is a great way to avoid late fees.

More Information

Finally, there are two brochures that detail the utility rates (PDF) and how to read your water meter (PDF) and you can view our monthly newsletter.

If you have questions regarding any of this information, please feel free to contact the City. We are always happy to help.

Again, welcome to Hopkins!
